A Timeless Backdrop: Gilmore Girls and The Ebell of Los Angeles

The Ebell has always been a haven for storytellers; from our earliest days to the present. But few productions have woven our historic campus into their narrative as beautifully as Gilmore Girls.

This unforgettable scene was filmed inside our historic Lounge.

Stars Hollow first arrived at The Ebell in 2000, when our ballroom became Chilton’s formal dance in the Season 1 episode, “Rory’s Dance.” Five years later, we welcomed the series back for Emily and Richard’s unforgettable vow renewal in “Wedding Bell Blues” (Season 5, Episode 13).

The story came full circle in 2016 with Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life. Across Episodes 1, 2, 3, and 4, our spaces transformed once again, now into a fertility clinic in “Winter”, a Daughters of the American Revolution Hall in “Fall”, a university bathroom in “Summer” and even an exclusive London club in “Summer” & “Winter” .

Through each appearance, the creators of Gilmore Girls proved what Hollywood has long known: The Ebell of Los Angeles is a timeless backdrop for stories that endure.
